Heidi van Steenburgh is an experienced attorney leading the Estate Planning and Estate Administration Department at HSKL. She provides comprehensive legal knowledge in estate planning, elder law, Medicaid pre-planning, and estate administration, helping clients protect their assets, minimize tax exposure, and plan for long-term care needs. She is a Certified Estate Planner™, a designation earned through the National Institute of Estate Planners which demonstrates her expertise in estate planning principles and techniques.
Heidi collaborates closely with individuals and families to create tailored strategies that align with their personal, financial, and family goals. She also leads community education initiatives, including public workshops and seminars, and authors educational materials to help clients and the public navigate complex legal and policy issues.

Before joining HSKL, Heidi built a career in estate planning and estate administration at two suburban law firms. She previously worked as a litigator for several prominent Philadelphia-area law firms. Heidi also served as a judicial law clerk in Northampton County following her graduation from law school.
Heidi graduated from Lafayette College with a double major in History and Government & Law. She was a four-year student athlete on their Division I Softball team. Heidi earned her J.D. from the Pennsylvania State University (Dickinson Law) where she was the Symposium/Articles Editor of the Dickinson Law Review. During law school, she interned with the United States Attorney’s Office and volunteered with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

Beyond her legal practice, Heidi has been involved in her community, serving on boards for youth sports and professional organizations, and coaching local soccer and softball programs.
